Sibu schools to apply a rotation system

SIBU: All primary and secondary schools in Sibu district will start a class rotation system starting today to curb the spread of Covid-19.

Sarawak Education and Technological Research Assistant Minister Dr Annuar Rapaee said the decision was made after taking into account safety factors and congestion at schools.

“We want to reduce the number of students in school at any one time, ” he posted on social media site on Saturday.

Annuar said under the rotation system, Years Four, Five and Six pupils will go to school on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, while preschoolers and those in Years One, Two and Three will go to school on Tuesday and Thursday.

For secondary school students, those in Forms Four to Six will attend school as usual, he said, adding that those in the remove class and in Form Three will go to school on the first and third week of the month. The second and fourth week will be for Forms One and Two.

Meanwhile, Annuar said a total of 223 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia candidates in Sibu who could not sit for the exam due to Covid-19 will sit for it from April 6-23. — Bernama
