KUALA LUMPUR: Umno Youth says the party has the correct "recipe" to win the next general election.
Its chief Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the first "ingredient" was to win over the youth, especially those aged from 18 to 21, consisting of about 7.8 million new voters who have no loyalty towards any political party or ideology.
"Umno must be prepared to change and transform towards a new political culture with integrity," he said in his policy speech in conjunction with the Umno general assembly.
He said Umno should also present new candidates who will be accepted by the rakyat.
"For Umno to be accepted by young voters, the party must offer fresh faces and those who can lead the country," he said.
He noted that Umno members should not shy away from defending the party in public.
Asyraf said that Umno should also find a partner to cooperate with without sidelining its principles.
He also thanked MCA, MIC and those still loyal to Barisan Nasional.
