KUANTAN: Medical frontliners are ready to perform their duty in swabbing and examining people living in Taman Guru here as the number of Covid-19 cases in this housing estate continues to rise.
On Thursday, Kuantan police clarified that while there was no enhanced movement control order, they had set up three roadblocks at entrances to the housing estate.
Kuantan police chief Asst Comm Mohamad Noor Yusof Ali said the police were only taking strategic prevention measures and monitoring standard operating procedure (SOP) compliance in the area.
“Residents are still free to go about their daily affairs as usual, but we appeal for cooperation from everyone to ensure our work runs smoothly, ” he told a Malay daily.“We would also like residents to facilitate our work by getting ready relevant documents so that our staff can verify matters easily as they go in and out, ” he added after surveying the area yesterday.
ACP Mohamad Noor said sentries would be placed around the clock consisting of 58 personnel from the police force, army, local authority, Civil Defence Force and Rela, who will be working in shifts.
A total of 29 Covid-19 cases were reported in the area as of Thursday.
