IPOH: Perak Pakatan Harapan component parties are willing to discuss the matter of seat allocations, including the possibility of DAP contesting more seats in the next general election compared to GE14.
State Parti Amanah Negara chairman Datuk Asmuni Awi said the matter could be discussed.
"We also need to see the political impact, he said, adding that it should be done if it was positive but not if the reverse was true.
"We will need to sit down and discuss it properly," the Manjoi assemblyman told reporters when met the 19th Perak DAP state convention here on Sunday (March 14).
Perak DAP chairman Nga Kor Ming had said in his speech during the convention that the party wished to contest eight parliamentary and 20 state seats in GE15.
Perak DAP contested and won seven parliamentary and 18 state seats in GE14.
Three assemblymen – Paul Yong (Tronoh), A. Sivasubramaniam (Buntong), Leong Cheok Keng (Malim Nawar) – are no longer with the party.
Asmuni said the current policy among Pakatan component parties was to retain their respective seats and those left "vacant" by Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia would be discussed.
He also said that any exchange in seats must be by mutual consent.
"Say if it is to exchange Manjoi with Tebing Tinggi, both seats which Pakatan won, we can discuss it.
"But if it is with a seat we lost, it will be difficult," he said, adding that negotiations are expected to start on March 18.
"The final decision will be by the federal leadership," he added.
Perak PKR chairman Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak quipped that they would like to contest all 59 state and 24 Parliamentary seats in the state.
"I would like to see DAP contest in some mixed areas in Perak and they give us extra Chinese majority seats since they are also a multi-racial party like us," he said in jest.
"But of course, that's a tall order. We will discuss it soon," he said.
