PETALING JAYA: Four new Covid-19 clusters were recorded on Monday (March 8), says the Health Ministry.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said three of the four clusters were linked to the workplace while another was from the community.
Johor recorded two new clusters - Cyber 72 cluster and Jalan i-Park Tiga cluster - while Kuala Lumpur recorded one new cluster, the Jalan Loke Yew cluster.
All three are workplace clusters.
Terengganu recorded one new cluster, known as the Bukit Bayas cluster, which is a community cluster.
The Cyber 72 cluster was detected in Kulai, Johor, where the index case was found to be positive for Covid-19 on March 4 after a symptomatic individual screening.
"This cluster involves a factory located at Jalan Cyber 5, Senai, Kulai. A total of 163 individuals were screened, with 18 testing positive," he said in a statement on Monday (March 8).
The Jalan i-Park Tiga cluster was also detected in Kulai, Johor. The index case of this cluster was found to be positive on March 6 after a symptomatic individual screening.
This cluster involves workers at a factory located at Jalan i-Park 1/3, Bandar Indahpura, Kulai.
As of Monday, 43 individuals were screened, with eight testing positive for the virus, Dr Noor Hisham said.
In the Jalan Loke Yew cluster, cases were detected on March 2 through a targeted screening of workers in a supermarket.
A total of 16 individuals have been screened to date, with 11 testing positive.
Lastly, in the Bukit Bayas cluster, it was detected in Kuala Terengganu, Johor Baru and Petaling in Selangor.
"The index case of this cluster was found to be positive for the virus on March 3 after a symptomatic individual screening.
"The name of the cluster refers to the locality where the cases are reported to have occurred, which is Kampung Bukit Bayas, Kuala Terengganu. A total of 139 individuals have been screened with 23 cases testing positive for the virus," he said.
