PETALING JAYA: Two men were arrested for fighting near the Sprint Expressway in Damansara following a traffic disagreement.
The video of the fight, which occurred at a traffic light near the expressway, went viral on social media.
Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal (pic) said the incident occurred at 6.20pm on Friday (March 5).
“A 46-year-old motorcyclist had honked at a 71-year-old taxi driver for allegedly going into a lane without signalling.
“When both men stopped at a traffic light, the rider had told off the taxi driver for driving recklessly while knocking on the taxi’s window, ” he said when contacted on Saturday (March 6).
The taxi driver got off from the vehicle, armed with a steering lock, he added.
“The rider also alleged that the taxi driver had caused an injury on his right hand, ” he said.
The taxi driver, who lodged a report later, alleged that the rider had threatened him using a motorcycle helmet and even snatched the steering lock from him, he said.
“The taxi driver also claimed that the rider had hit him using the same steering lock, ” he said.
ACP Nik Ezanee said police detained both men on Saturday.
“Both men have been released on police bail.
“They do not have any priors as well, ” he added.
ACP Nik Ezanee advised all road users to be responsible at all times.
“Always keep your emotion in check, especially during disagreement with other motorists, ” he added.
