KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali (pic) has lodged a police report against Tan Sri Tommy Thomas over his recently-released book "My Story: Justice in the Wilderness".
The former attorney general, accompanied by lawyer Datuk Baljit Singh Sidhu, lodged the report at 2.15pm Thursday (Feb 4) at the Sentul police headquarters.
"The purpose of the police report is for justice to be done, not only for me but for others who have been scandalised and humiliated by the book, especially officers of the Attorney General's Chambers.
"They are caught in a predicament of having to defend themselves and at the same time, going against their former head of department," he said in a statement.
Apandi said he sympathised with the AGC's officers.
"I can vouch that the officers are dedicated and I cannot fault their service during my tenure," he added.
Apandi also said he never disclosed state secrets despite being bashed throughout his tenure as AG.
"They will remain as such, therefore none will ever grace the pages of any memoir," he said.
It was reported that Datuk Mohamad Hanafiah Zakaria, the former solicitor-general III, claimed that an excerpt from Thomas's book had tarnished his image as a Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) who had served for 33 years.
Hanafiah said the excerpt referred to the preparation of the prosecution team in the case against Datuk Seri Najib Razak in 2018, when he was the Trial and Appeals division head at the AGC.
He had lodged a police report at the Cyberjaya police station on Tuesday (Feb 2).
Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Fadzil Ahmat had said police would be calling up Thomas to record his statement soon.
