SEREMBAN: A couple was killed when their car collided with a trailer lorry near Gemencheh along the Jalan Tampin-Gemas stretch.
Mohamad Ismail, 70 and his 62-year-old wife Halijah Hamat from Felda Palong 3 in Gemas were killed on the spot in the accident which happened around 8.20pm on Wednesday (Jan 20).
Tampin OCPD Supt Anuwal Ab Wahab said the crash happened when the lorry driver, 56, was driving out of the Jalan Kilang Gedok Mas junction to head for work in Tampin.
"The victims who were heading towards Gemas, ploughed into the rear tyres on the right side of the lorry," he said, adding that Mohamad was driving the Proton Saga when the accident happened.
Both victims were killed on the spot and their remains were sent to the Tampin Hospital for post-mortem.
The case is being investigated under section 41(1) of the Road transport Act 1987.
