University student found dead in room by her parents

SIBU: A university student, believed to have committed suicide, was found dead in her room by her parents on Saturday (Jan 9).

Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the 24-year-old woman was a student at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in Penang.

Her body was found by her parents at about 6am Saturday sitting next to a cabinet in her room.

The family is staying in a single-storey house in Lorong Bukit Lima Timur.

Paramedics who arrived at the scene pronounced her dead and there were bruises to her neck.

"The woman left behind a farewell note to her family," ACP Stanley said.

The police, he said, had ruled out any foul play in the woman's death.

He added that the woman had died about seven hours prior to her parents finding her body in her room.
