Wawasan Negara will strengthen Perikatan's position, says Hamzah

PETALING JAYA: Parti Wawasan Negara believes it will strengthen Perikatan Nasional’s position as an inclusive, stable and capable coalition.

“We are here to serve as a bridge that connects with more Malaysians, broadens support and further strengthens Perikatan Nasional’s position as an inclusive, stable and capable coalition that is ready to govern,” the party’s President Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said in a statement on Tuesday (June 23).

Hamzah expressed his appreciation to the Perikatan Supreme Council for their confidence in the party and for accepting it as a member of the coalition.

“This decision marks a new chapter not only for Wawasan Negara, but also for efforts to strengthen Perikatan as a coalition which is increasingly trusted by the people to lead Malaysia,” he said.

The inclusion of Wawasan Negara also adds value to Perikatan's existing strengths, particularly in advancing a reform agenda founded on competence, integrity and stability, he added.

He said as a party that reflects the diversity of Malaysia, Wawasan Negara carries the aspirations of Malaysians from all backgrounds.

He believes that the nation’s future can only be built through cooperation, moderation and a commitment to the national interest.

On Monday (June 22), Perikatan accepted both Parti Cinta Malaysia and Pejuang into its fold.

Earlier, the party’s secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah explained that the party had written to join Perikatan under the Parti Cinta Malaysia name.

Parti Cinta Malaysia was rebranded as Wawasan Negara.

“We conducted our Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) on June 20 where we decided on a new name, that is Parti Wawasan Negara (Wawasan Negara) and elected a new leadership.

"Now awaiting confirmation from the Registrar of Societies (ROS). After the EGM, we wrote to Perikatan applying to be a component party.

"We wrote as Parti Cinta Malaysia because we are awaiting the confirmation from ROS and informed that we are now named Wawasan Negara,” he said when contacted.

Hamzah officially announced the formation of Wawasan Negara during the Reset Convention in Tanah Merah, Kelantan, on June 13, after being expelled from Bersatu in February.
