Wee distributes face masks, calendar to constituents on Christmas day

PETALING JAYA: MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong went to the ground on Christmas day to meet the residents of Yong Peng, Johor and distribute face masks and 2021 calendars.

In a Facebook post on Thursday (Dec 25), the Ayer Hitam MP said, at the same time, he took the chance to meet the people of Yong Peng, comprising various races.

"I feel so relieved after they informed me that the price of the palm oil is reaching RM660 per tonne or that crude palm oil (CPO) has climbed to RM3,700, far more than in the previous year," he said.

"If we still remember, during the previous Tanjung Piai by election, the price of palm oil was only about RM325 per tonne," he said.

Wee cited the good relations with China and India, as among the factors that contributed to the improvement of palm oil prices.

"Since the Perikatan Nasional government took over Putrajaya, the diplomatic relations between Malaysia with India and China have tremendously improved and both countries have bought palm oil from us.

"This has caused the price of palm oil to increase in folds and at the same time will bring many benefits to our palm oil smallholders and the country," he added.

Meanwhile, in a separate Facebook post, he said he paid a visit to a kidney patient, Aspar Markom, at his home in Kampung Seri Mendapat, Parit Raja, Johor.

"Aspar has been undergoing dialysis treatment from five years ago.

"I gave some medical assistance and basic necessities to his family. Let us together pray so Aspar will remain healthy," he said.

Meanwhile, We also handed over allocations for renovation works to the Kg Seri Mendapat mosque, SK Seri Mendapat and Sekolah Agama Seri Mendapat.
