SIBU: The executive chairman of Jaya Tiasa Holdings Bhd, Datuk Sri Tiong Chiong Hoo (pic), collapsed and passed away in his office on Thursday (Dec 24).
Chiong Hoo, 59, was the second son of Tan Sri Tiong Hiew King, the majority shareholder at the Rimbunan Hijau Group of Companies.
Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Stanley Jonathan Ringgit, in confirming the death, said Chiong Hoo died at 12.23pm.
"He was found unconscious at 10am in his office by a cleaner who then informed his personal assistant," he said.
ACP Stanley added that an ambulance came and took him to a private medical specialist centre, where his death was confirmed.
“The body was later brought back to his residence at Mile 17, Jalan Sibu-Bintulu," he added.
Chiong Hoo also the chief executive officer and was responsible for developing the corporate and business strategy at the Rimbunan Hijau group, the diversified conglomerate involved in a range of sectors such as media and publishing, oil palm plantations and mills, timber, oil and gas, mining, and other business around the world.
He held two Bachelor’s degrees, in law and economics, from Monash University in Australia.
