JOHOR BARU: Police arrested 10 individuals including a teenager, believed to be part of an underground society, in relation to the murder of a car repossessor.
Johor police chief Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay (pic) said the 10 suspects, aged 17 to 31, believed to be part of the Ngo Seik Kee (Five Colours) underground society, were nabbed during a raid in Bakri, Muar at around 12.15am on Thursday (Dec 24).
He said the latest arrest brought the number of suspects in relation to the case to 12, as two individuals were earlier arrested near the scene of the crime near Sedenak, Kulai last Sunday (Dec 20).
It was reported that the 34-year-old car repossessor was found with stab wounds in a ditch at KM40.1 of the North-South Expressway heading towards Kuala Lumpur.
The victim and a friend had earlier repossessed a Toyota Vellfire in Johor Baru.
They were making their way back to Kuala Lumpur in the same vehicle when they were intercepted by two other vehicles, causing the multipurpose vehicle to lose control.
The victim’s remains, with stab wounds to his head and body, was left at the scene while his friend managed to flee.
Ayob was confident that the case could be solved with the arrests and investigations found that the motive behind the incident was due to dissatisfaction over the payment of the repossessed vehicle.
“All the arrested suspects have previous criminal records relating to drugs and other crimes. We are still looking for several other suspects, still at large, in relation to this case, ” he said, adding that the suspects were being remanded under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
He also urged the public to refrain from taking up offers to purchase repossessed vehicles at a cheaper price as such vehicles were usually linked to shady activities involving underground societies.
