PETALING JAYA: An enhanced movement control order will be imposed in two new localities in Kulim, Kedah, as well as Tuaran, Sabah effective Friday (Nov 27).
Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the enhanced MCO will be imposed from Nov 27 to Dec 10.
It will affect 6,000 residents in several housing estates in Mukim Sungai Seluang in Kulim, and 18,000 in Taman Telipok Ria in Tuaran.
The affected residential areas in Kulim are Taman Bayam, Taman Bayam Indah, Taman Kangkong 1, Taman Kangkong 2, Taman Halia, Taman Cekur Manis, Taman Kobis, Taman Sawi and, Taman Seri Limau.
"Residents are not allowed to leave the residential areas without police permission. Mass screening will be carried out here," he said.
A total of 2,609 residents in Taman Telipok Ria had been screened, with 253 testing positive.
"Another 581 were still awaiting results. The enhanced MCO imposed (in Tuaran) covers 3,400 residential units in a 229,459 sq m area," he said.
Ismail also announced that enhanced MCO imposed on Kampung Pengaraban, Kg Tanjung Kapor and Kg Landung Ayang in Kudat would be lifted as scheduled on Thursday (Nov 26).
