Six Malaysian students make history in Mathematical Olympiad


PETALING JAYA: Six Malaysian students made history in the Thailand International Mathematical Olympiad 2020 (TIMO) final.

Team Malaysia won 13 gold, 23 silver, 13 bronze, four world stars, one overall champion and second runner-up, as well as seven merit awards, according to Singapore Maths and Olympiad (SMO) Education Group.

The students marched to the finals from a total of 1,464 students from 14 countries who competed online on Sept 27, it said in a statement (Nov 2).

“Team Malaysia made history.

“Each of them will be receiving a world star trophy and free entry to the TIMO 2021 final,” SMO said.

TIMO is an annual international Olympiad competition organised by Olympiad Champion Education Group from Hong Kong.
