IPOH: Barisan Nasional won all 13 district polling stations (PDM) in the Slim by-election, says Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
The Umno president said unofficial results showed that they won back the six PDM they lost here during GE14.
"It's all thanks to the support and hard work of those involved. This shows the voters have missed us," he said to reporters at the Barisan by-election command centre in Tanjung Malim on Friday (Aug 29).
"This (result) will be further interpreted if the Sabah state elections or GE15 are held. We continue to gain back the support from the people," he said.
Official results show that Barisan's Zaidi won the by-election.
As of 8.40pm, with 46 out of 56 ballot boxes tallied, Zaidi polled 10,468 votes and leads with a 8,665-vote majority.
Independent candidates Amir Khusyairi Mohamad Tanusi and Dr S. Santharasekaran polled 1,803 and 263 respectively.
Zahid reminded Zaidi to perform his duties well as the new state assemblyman.
"He needs to give his best services to the people as was done by the late Datuk Mohd Khusairi Abdul Talib," he said.
