‘Corporate mafia’, Felda abuse of power claims among Dewan Rakyat focus today

KUALA LUMPUR: Allegations of ‘corporate mafia’ activities and abuse of power involving the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) are among the issues to be raised in the Dewan Rakyat on Tuesday (Oct 20).

According to the Order Paper on Parliament's official portal, during Minister’s Question Time, Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun (PH-Port Dickson) will ask the Prime Minister for an update on ‘corporate mafia’ allegations involving violations of the law and the action taken so far.

Ahmad Fadhli Shaari (PN-Pasir Mas) will ask the Prime Minister for an update on investigations into alleged misappropriation, corruption and abuse of power involving Felda, including its subsidiary Felda Investment Corporation.

The question-and-answer session will follow, with Datuk Dr Nik Muhammad Zawawi Salleh (PN-Pasir Puteh) seeking details from the Economy Minister on the policy indicators, quantitative targets and timelines under the 13th Malaysia Plan to address development disparities between districts.

Tan Kar Hing (PH-Gopeng) will also ask the Agriculture and Food Security Minister about the outcomes of the Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism Exhibition 2026, as well as the added value and follow-up investments expected to materialise from the memoranda of understanding signed.

Datuk Idris Ahmad (PN-Bagan Serai) will ask the Prime Minister whether the government is prepared to make merit-based appointments free from political influence, a key governance policy for Tabung Haji, in line with one of the Royal Commission of Inquiry's recommendations.

The sitting is scheduled to continue with the policy-stage debate on the Supply Bill (Budget 2027), following the tabling of Budget 2027 by Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Oct 9.

The calendar for the Third Meeting of the Fifth Session of the 15th Parliament shows that the policy-stage debate on Budget 2027 is scheduled for Oct 12 to 22, with the relevant ministers to wind up the debate over four days from Oct 26.

The Dewan Rakyat is scheduled to sit for 37 days until Dec 8. - Bernama
