MAF, MACC sign pact to boost anti-graft cooperation

KUALA LUMPUR: The Armed Forces (MAF) and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) have strengthened their cooperation in corruption prevention through a new memorandum of cooperation (MoC) aimed at enhancing organisational integrity and governance.

The Armed Forces Headquarters said the MoC was signed following a courtesy call by MACC chief commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman on Armed Forces Chief Jeneral Tan Sri Malek Razak Sulaiman at Ruang Perkasa at the MAF headquarters here yesterday.

It said the collaboration aims to strengthen ties between the two organisations, particularly in corruption prevention, information sharing and governance improvements.

“The cooperation marks a continuation of the MAF leadership’s commitment to comprehensively address weaknesses in organisational management, particularly in procurement and financial administration,” the military said in a statement.

The MoC was signed by Defence Intelligence director-general Leftenan Jeneral Datuk Fazal Abdul Rahman and MACC Intelligence Division senior director Datuk Saiful Ezral Arifin, with Malek Razak and Abd Halim witnessing the signing.

“The partnership reflected both organisations’ commitment to ensuring that the armed forces remained clean, transparent and credible,” the military said.

It also aligned with the second pillar of the 24th Armed Forces Chief’s maiden directive, “Tatakelola Tuntas, Integriti Terpelihara” (Robust Governance, Preserved Integrity), requiring every service member to be competent in carrying out their duties while remaining steadfast in upholding the trust placed in them.

“Integrity is a form of combat strength, while public trust serves as the organisation’s primary shield,” the military added.
