Ismail Sabri: All residents in two Perlis villages to undergo Covid-19 swab tests

PUTRAJAYA: Covid-19 swab tests will be conducted on all residents in two Sanglang, Perlis villages currently under a targeted enhanced movement control order (MCO).

“Health authorities will be conducting Covid-19 swab tests on all residents in the affected area," said Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He added that the two villages affected by the targeted enhanced MCO - Kampung Kuala Sanglang and Kampung Tanah Timbul - covered 872 people from 191 houses.

Ismail Sabri said that the targeted enhanced MCO will run from Monday (Aug 10) until Aug 31, adding that it was put in place due to cases linked to the Sivagangga cluster.

"The targeted enhanced MCO for this area will use existing standard operating procedures with additional roadblocks set up and roads being cut off," he said on Monday (Aug 10).

Ismail Sabri said that the movement of people within the area under the targeted enhanced MCO is allowed, adding that shops selling essential goods and restaurants offering take-away services are allowed to operate from 8am to 6pm.

He added that schools and government offices will be closed, while activities in mosques and places of worship are not allowed.

"The movement of people in and out of the area will not be allowed during the targeted enhanced MCO, ” said Ismail Sabri.
