In Parliament today: Potholes, petrol subsidy, new businesses, foreign workers

KUALA LUMPUR: Potholes, registration of new businesses, implementation of the new Petrol Subsidy Programme (PSP) and foreign workers are among issues to be raised in Dewan Rakyat on Wednesday (July 29).

Tan Kok Wai (PH-Cheras) will be asking Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi how many new businesses have been registered between April and July this year.

Nanta will also be asked by Shaharizukirnain Abd. Kadir (PAS-Setiu) to state the new date for the implementation of the Petrol Subsidy Programme which was postponed by the Cabinet.

Datuk Mohd Anuar Mohd Tahir (Amanah-Temerloh) will be asking Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof to state if the Zero Potholes policy has been a success.

Mohd Anuar said the policy was announced by Fadillah in conjunction with the 100 days of him holding the post as a Works Minister.

Datuk Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid (PH-Kapar) wants Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin to state the number of legal foreign workers still working in the country after their permit has expired.

He also is asking the minister how such foreign workers are monitored with regard to safety and health aspects.

The Dewan Rakyat sitting will also see resumption of debates on the motion of thanks on the Royal Address which ends Wednesday (July 29).

The respective ministers will be giving their replies to the issues raised by lawmakers in Dewan Rakyat beginning Aug 3 to Aug 10.
