Motorcyclist killed after crashing into lorry in JB


GELANG PATAH: A male motorcyclist died on the spot after crashing into a lorry's rear end at the Second Link Crossing in Tanjung Kupang on Wednesday (July 8) near here.

Iskandar Puteri Fire and Rescue station operation commander Muhammad Fathul Muiin Muhamad Asri said the incident took place at KM1.2, of the land link at 4.28pm.

“A total of seven firemen from the Iskandar Puteri Fire and Rescue station were dispatched to the scene upon receiving an emergency call in regard to the case,’’ he said in a statement.

Muhammad Fathul said the firemen together with a Fire Rapid Tender vehicle and a Utility Vehicle arrived at the scene located about 22km from the station at 4.51pm.

“The 28-year-old victim who suffered from severe head injuries was pronounced dead by the paramedic team from the Health Ministry at the scene, while the 32-year-old lorry driver escaped unhurt,’’ he said.

Muhammad Fathul said the victim’s body has been forwarded to the police for further action and the operation ended at 5.39pm.
