IPOH: Perak is determined to ensure the spirit of nationalism bloom throughout August despite the Covid-19 pandemic.
Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu said various programmes have been prepared for this year’s state-level National Month celebration.
“We will hold both physical and virtual programmes which will be held according to the standard operating procedure.
“It will involve the participation of the people from home, so we hope all Perakians will take part,” he said after launching the state-level National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang campaign at the state secretariat building yesterday.
Ahmad Faizal said the programmes included flying the Malaysian flag at home, talks and various competitions.
On Covid-19, he said the state was looking at the possibility of setting up quarantine centres in hotels.
“We believe it is crucial as there are people who disobeyed home quarantine orders.
“We will be talking to hotels, perhaps with the ones that are already closed, to find ways for their premises to be turned into a quarantine centre,” he said.
He added that meetings would be held with the state National Security Council on the matter.
