Serving the community: Dr Wee thanks Johor Sultan for giving land to MCA Crisis Relief Squad

JOHOR BARU: Ayer Hitam MP Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong (pic) has thanked Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar for giving a piece of land to the MCA Crisis Relief Squad (CRSM).

Dr Wee, who is also Transport Minister and MCA president, said he was grateful to His Majesty for visiting the CRSM Ayer Hitam Fire and Rescue Volunteers Group on June 29.

“Sultan Ibrahim had made the announcement during His Majesty’s visit," said Dr Wee during a Live Facebook video session on Friday (July 10).

The CRSM Ayer Hitam building has been in use since the group was established in 1989.

“In 2015, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who was the deputy prime minister at the time, also visited the building where he announced an allocation of RM300,000 to build a proper building for the CRSM Ayer Hitam Fire and Rescue Volunteers Group, ” he added.

He said through the allocation, construction for the new building started in January 2016 and completed in 2017.

Dr Wee said the group has grown from strength to strength with more people, mostly villagers, signing up to become volunteers as well as many quarters coming forward to help sponsor various equipment.

“On behalf of the Ayer Hitam parliamentary members and also CRSM Ayer Hitam Fire and Rescue Volunteers Group, I would like to thank Sultan Ibrahim in giving the 5,920 square feet of land to the group.

He said this is such a valuable gift to motivate the villagers to continue serving the local community through their contribution.

Dr Wee said the group has already applied to change the land status to the land office but he believed it would not be a problem following Sultan Ibrahim’s decree on the matter.
