JOHOR BARU: Business groups are urging both Malaysia and Singapore to expedite their discussions on the reopening of the border.
Johor Indian Business Association president P. Sivakumar said opening up the border would help spur economic activity on both sides.
“Our border should reopen sooner rather than later because many businesses depend on either Malaysians working in Singapore or Singaporeans coming here.
“The city centre used to have a livelier and colourful atmosphere with Singaporeans coming to spend but now it has turned dull,” he said when contacted yesterday.
Johor South SME adviser Teh Kee Sin said Covid-19 cases on both sides had been dropping by the day.
“Discussions between Malaysia and Singapore should be more result-orientated as the longer both countries drag, the affected areas will get wider,” he said.
