Covid-19: Three Kuala Langat housing estates placed under semi-enhanced MCO after cluster detected (updated)

SHAH ALAM: A semi-enhanced movement control order (MCO) has been put in place at three neighbourhoods in Kuala Langat.

Selangor police Covid-19 spokesperson Asst Comm Muhammad Yazid Muhammad Yew said the semi-enhanced MCO was put in effect on Wednesday (June 3).

"It involves Taman Langat Utama, Taman Langat Murni and Taman Langat Murni Phase 2.

"The decision was made after 20 foreigners tested positive for Covid-19 there," he told reporters at the Shah Alam police headquarters on Wednesday.

He said there were enough personnel to maintain public order and security there.

Meanwhile Kuala Langat OCPD Supt Azizan Tukiman, when met at the scene said a total of 128 Malaysia Armed Forces personnel and 60 policemen began setting up the barbed wire fences around the 43.3ha area around 12.30am on Wednesday.

"We have been instructed by the government to place the area under semi enhanced MCO until June 16.

"Some 114 close contacts have been identified and have been placed under quarantine at two centres at Bangi.

"This area has a community of over 9,000 and over 2,000 have already been screened," he said, adding that Health Ministry officials would take about three days to complete screening everyone here.

Army and police personnel were seen at the only entrance to the area along Jalan Murni 1 here.
