Bring your own pen to register particulars when shopping, says Health DG

PETALING JAYA: In order to avoid cross-contamination, the Health Ministry has advised Malaysians to bring their own pen to write down their personal particulars before entering shops.

"Always have your own pen. It is much better if you have your own pen," he said during his daily press briefing on Thursday (May 28).

Dr Noor Hisham said he had observed that some shops had their own employees writing down customers' personal particulars.

As such, he said this might be another way to prevent cross-contamination.

"If you have to write, make sure sanitise your hand as well as the pen if you are worried that the pen is used by the public. That is the best way to protect yourself," he said.

Separately, Dr Noor Hisham said the government was looking to launch a QR code on the MySejahtera application on June 1.

He said with the implementation of the QR code, Malaysians would not need to register their personal particulars when visiting outlets.

He added that the hotspot tracker function on the app can help Malaysians identify if there had been Covid-19 cases reported within a 1km radius of a searched area in the past 28 days.

"This function can be used as a guide for a user to make a decision when moving from one place to another. This is in line with the self-empowerment of individuals and Malaysians to familiarise themselves with the new normal in their daily lives," he said.

The MySejahtera app was introduced by the Malaysian Government to help deal with the Covid-19 pandemic.
