Covid-19: 36 new cases, death toll remains at 112

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia reported 36 more Covid-19 cases and zero deaths on Friday (May 15).

The country’s total number of confirmed cases is now 6,855, said Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah at the Health Ministry’s daily Covid-19 media briefing on Friday evening.

Of the 36 new cases, 28 are non-Malaysians.

Dr Noor Hisham also said 88 more patients have been discharged in the same 24-hour span, which means 5,439 patients have recovered from Covid-19 since the outbreak began.

Malaysia’s Covid-19 recovery rate is now at 79.3% out of the total number of positive cases.

There are only 1,304 active cases being treated at the country’s health facilities at present.

There are currently 14 patients being treated at intensive care units (ICU) with five on ventilator support.

Dr Noor Hisham also announced no new deaths, which means the country’s death toll remains at 112.

This translates to a fatality rate of 1.63% out of the total number of cases.

Malaysia is currently under a conditional movement control order (MCO) which is scheduled to end on June 9, barring any extensions by the government.
