Melaka cancels all Ramadan bazaars due to Covid-19

MELAKA: Melaka will not allow Ramadan bazaars to operate this year due to the Covid-19 situation.

In a circular issued on Friday (March 27), Melaka Historic City Council (MBMB) said Ramadan bazaars would not be organised this year during the fasting month.

Mayor Datuk Mansor Sudin said this was to avoid any issues during these uncertain times.

He said MBMB had issued permits to the bazaar organisers in Klebang and Telok Mas here, but these would not go on this year.

However, Mansor said the decision could be reconsidered once the state government felt that Covid-19 no longer poses a health threat.

"For the moment, we are taking a wait-and-see policy," he said.
