More roadblocks to be set up in Melaka during MCO, says state deputy police chief

MELAKA: More roadblocks will be set up in the state during the movement control order (MCO) period, says Senior Assistant Commissioner Datuk Sharul Lalli Masduki.

The Melaka deputy police chief said the roadblocks will be increased from three to four at each of the three districts -Alor Gajah, Melaka Tengah and Jasin.

"This means we will have 12 roadblocks in Melaka during this MCO," he said after joining a joint patrol with the police and army at a supermarket here Tuesday (March 24).

SAC Shahrul Lalli said 600 officers and personnel from both the police and the army will be patrolling the streets of Melaka and manning the roadblocks.

He said locals were abiding by the MCO without any major issues.

"We have also intensified border controls, including at all three toll plazas in the state by working closely with various enforcement agencies," he said.

SAC Shahrul added that no police or army personnel who had been reported to have contracted the Covid-19 when executing their tasks as frontliners.
