Supporters turn up early at Muhyiddin’s home

KUALA LUMPUR: As Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin got ready to be sworn in as the eighth Prime Minister, supporters and politicians gathered at his house as early as 8.30am.

Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong and PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang were among those who arrived early.

Other politicians spotted were Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia supreme council member Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof, PAS secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan, Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and former PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Azmin Ali.

At 9.30am, Muhyiddin, who is Pagoh MP, was seen fully dressed in a black baju Melayu and before he and the leaders left for Istana Negara, Hadi recited a prayer.

Upon returning from his swearing-in, Muhyiddin was greeted with chants of “Hidup Tan Sri” by his supporters, and later spoke to the media briefly.

“I will just say thanks to Allah and the Yang di-Pertuan Agong for the appointment.

“I will issue a special statement in the next few hours, ” he said.

More politicians came by to visit him, including Sarawak Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, Bersatu Srikandi chief Datuk Seri Rina Mohd Harun, Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu and Umno supreme council member Tan Sri Noh Omar.

Ahmad Faizal urged Malaysians to support the new Prime Minister, saying that the country could be healed from the problems it faced.

“I hope Malaysians can give their support to the new Prime Minister and new Cabinet, ” he said.

Rina said she, as well as Bersatu women’s wing, were confident with Muhyiddin’s leadership and experience to take the country to greater heights.
