KOTA KINABALU: A video of a group of students beating up two boys has gone viral on social media.

In the 48-second video, a boy is seen sitting on a bench when another person runs up and starts punching him. The assailant is then joined by seven other teenagers, who also beat up the victim with sticks.

The victim, using his hands to ward off the blows, is then helped by a friend in the incident, but gets assaulted as well.

Sabah Education Department director Mistirine Radin said they are investigating the case believed to involve boys from a secondary school in Kolombong near here.

All those involved, together with their parents or guardians, will be called in to assist the probe, he added.

Kota Kinabalu police chief Asst Comm Habibi Majinji said they have yet to receive any report regarding the matter as of 2pm.

"But I am aware of the video being circulated and have instructed my men to go to the school to investigate," he said when contacted.
