10,000 expected at temple


Sri Subramaniar temple commitee member, K.Mohana preparing kavadi for the upcoming Thaipusam festival. The word Kavadi is derived from 'kaavu' and 'tadi' which means a pole to carry things. Kavadi are slung across the shoulder of devotees during Thaipusam. They are commonly decorated with string of bells, flowers and peacock feathers. Kavadis are made in various shapes sizes, and colours.

JOHOR BARU: Some 10,000 people are expected to throng the Sri Subramaniar temple in Tampoi to observe Thaipusam.

Temple chairman K. Arumugan said preparations started several days ago to prepare for the festivities tomorrow.
