Bersatu disciplinary board hauls up Hamzah, four others on Feb 12, says notice

PETALING JAYA: Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin and four other Bersatu division leaders have been summoned by the party’s disciplinary board for a hearing on Feb 12, failing which, the party will make a final decision.

This was stated in a notice to the Bersatu deputy president and Larut MP dated Feb 6 and signed by Bersatu disciplinary board chairman Datuk Mohd Radzi Manan.

The notice listed down the reasons for the summons as sabotaging and tarnishing the image of the party and Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

"The respondent is alleged to have been involved in planning for the following purposes: collecting statutory declarations (SDs) by manipulating the arrangements of the Gopeng Retreat, planning to sabotage the 2025 annual general assembly, thwarting the motion for debate to retain Muhyiddin as the 11th prime minister candidate from Bersatu and to retain the party president.

"On Jan 28, the respondent made a public statement stating, ‘I wasn’t even invited, so how could I be expected to attend?’ while responding to media inquiries at the Dewan Rakyat.

"This statement has tarnished the image of the party president and the party as a whole. The Disciplinary Board Committee has scheduled a meeting with a representative appointed to attend on behalf of Datuk Seri. The representative will explain the complaint received by the committee.

"Please be advised that failure to attend this meeting concerning the investigation of this disciplinary complaint will empower the members of the Disciplinary Board Committee, pursuant to Clause 22.5 of the Constitution Bersatu, to determine any recommendation or decision related to the complaint without further reference to Datuk Seri, and any such recommendation or decision shall be final," stated the notice by Mohd Radzi.

The hearing is expected at noon on Feb 12 at the party's headquarters in Menara Yayasan Selangor here.

In separate notices to the four dated Feb 7, the four - namely Ahmad Nasir Mid (Selayang), Abdul Aziz Ismail (Dungun), Zulkifli Bujang (Johor Baru), dan Ramlan Meon (Tangga Batu) were summoned for different incidences with regards to the party.

The notice to Ahmad Nasir cites two complaints - openly supporting Hamzah and attempting to oust Muhyiddin during last year's AGM.

Abdul Aziz is accused of attending and being directly involved in the Jelajah Semarak programme organised by the dismissed Tasek Gelugor Member of Parliament, Wan Saiful Wan Jan, on Oct 26 last year in Melaka, and of objecting to a decision of the Disciplinary Board in a speech.

Zulkifli allegedly instructed Johor Baru delegates via WhatsApp to boycott Muhyiddin’s closing address during the 2025 Annual General Assembly (PAT 2025).

Ramlan reportedly issued a statement to an online portal attacking Bersatu’s information chief Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz.

All four division chiefs were instructed to attend separate hearings at the party headquarters on Feb 12.

The notice warned that the failure to attend could result in action being taken under Clause 22.5 of the Bersatu Constitution.

Hamzah, who serves as opposition leader, was contacted but has yet to respond.

In recent months, the fallout between Muhyiddin and Hamzah has been out in the open, with both camps hatching up their plans.
