Chinese woman in Sibu tested negative for coronavirus

SIBU: A Chinese national, who was suspected of having the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) has been tested negative for the disease.

Sibu MP Oscar Ling said on Wednesday (Jan 29) that the woman was also tested negative for influenza A and B.

"She is well and being discharged today," he said.

The woman had on Jan 27 been admitted to Sibu Hospital for suspected coronavirus after being referred by the Rejang Medical Specialist Centre.

False news of a confirmed 2019-nCoV case had gone viral following her being admitted.

"The rumour saying there is a confirmed case is actually fake," Ling said in providing an update of the case.
