I’m happy at where I’m now, says Zuraida

PUTRAJAYA: PKR vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin says there is no need to lodge a police report against the culprits who spread fake news claiming that she is joining Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia.

The Housing and Local Government Minister dismissed the issue as “silly talk” and said it was not worth a response.

“Why do I need to lodge a report. It’s only going to waste the police’s time. They’ve got more important things to do,” she said after addressing the ministry’s monthly assembly here yesterday.

Photographs purportedly of application forms showing Zuraida was joining Bersatu have been circulating on social media recently.

Her political secretary Nor Hizwan Ahmad on Monday dismissed the images of the forms and a letter purportedly addressed to Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as false.

Zuraida added that she feels very secure at where she is now.

“Even though my party is facing all sorts of problems, the thought of going to another party has never crossed my mind,” she said.

Zuraida also shot back at PKR secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail for asking her to be “calm” over her disciplinary show-cause letter.

“I am calm. I have been with the party at its lowest in 2004, and I still stuck with it. But he (Saifuddin) ran away back then. ... He’s the one who isn’t calm,” she said.
