PETALING JAYA: The price of RON97 petrol will go down nine sen per litre beginning Saturday (Jan 18) until Jan 24.
The Finance Ministry said RON97 petrol would be priced at RM2.53 per litre, down from RM2.62 per litre.
Meanwhile, the prices of RON95 petrol and diesel will stay at RM2.08 and RM2.18 per litre respectively.
"Based on the calculation under the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM), the retail prices for both RON95 and diesel should be RM2.23 and RM2.46 per litre respectively," it said in a statement on Friday (Jan 17).
It added that the estimated subsidy to be borne by the government between Jan 18 and Jan 24 would be about RM74.70mil.
The weekly fuel pricing mechanism was reintroduced on Jan 5 last year under the APM.
Under this system, fuel prices are announced every Friday and remain in force for one week.
