Perak MB's 'lone battle' against DAP is his personal experience, says Muhyiddin

Home Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

PONTIAN: A video clip of Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu lamenting that he is fighting a "lone battle" against DAP in the state was just his personal experience, says Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

Although he did not follow the issue thoroughly, the Pakatan Harapan deputy president and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia president, said he was informed about it earlier.

''This is more of a personal experience.

''He is the Mentri Besar and DAP is an important ally in Perak. For me, it is normal.

''Maybe he is alone from Bersatu in Perak but I believe his position as MB can help manage the situation.

''It's his personal encounter based on what he was trying to say,'' Muhyiddin, who is also Home Minister, told the press after an afternoon tea session with policemen at the Pekan Nanas police station here Friday (Nov 8).

Earlier, a video clip posted on one Azizi Safar's Facebook page saw Ahmad Faizal discussing with a group of people on how he has to face DAP over certain issues, including Malay land.

''I am fighting alone with the DAP group.

"I want to defend the Malay land and to fight for our religion. I am doing this slowly," he said.

"Thankfully, some friends in Umno don't scold me. They are good with me," he added.

The two-minute-47-second video clip is believed to have been taken during the Tanjung Piai by-election campaign as Pakatan's candidate Karmaine Sardini was also seen in the footage.

When asked if Ahmad Faizal's untimely comments could affect voters' support in the by-election, Muhyiddin said he ''hopes not''.

''This is just an isolated case. In Tanjung Piai, we campaign fairly without leaving anyone out.

''All leaders from Pakatan parties are coming here. We all know this is a Pakatan battle, it's not about DAP or any single party.

''We have projected this from the beginning. I hope we will get the people's support,'' he added.

When asked, Muhyiddin said he did not find Ahmad Faizal's comments warranted him to be ticked off.

''For me, it's okay. I will discuss with him later and get more details.

''It's just one of those days, I don't think it's a big deal,'' he added.
