Perak PKR chairman Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak

IPOH: Perak PKR chairman Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak has slammed Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, saying he was not worthy of being the Mentri Besar.

This follows a video clip of Ahmad Faizal lamenting that he is fighting a "lone battle" against DAP over several matters in the state that has surfaced on social media.

The two-minute-47-second video clip is believed to have been taken during the Tanjung Piai by-election campaign as Pakatan Harapan's candidate Karmaine Sardini is also seen in the footage.

In a statement on Friday (Nov 8), Farhash said Ahmad Faizal’s act of slandering DAP to gain votes was an embarrassment and he was not fit to hold the post.

"If he feels that DAP is an enemy within the state government, he is no longer fit to be a minister under the Pakatan government. The shared mandate should not be disputed and it is his duty to convince the people that this alliance is transparent, ” he said.

“Why is there a need to practise racial politics in this New Malaysia?” he asked.

"I hope he can have self-awareness and publicly apologise to the people before the situation worsens until it affects Karmaine Saidini in the by-election next week," he added.

In a separate press statement, Perak DAP secretary Wong Kah Woh also said Ahmad Faizal’s remarks were embarrassing and contradicts the spirit of unity within Pakatan.

“His praise for the Opposition while insulting alliance members could not be accepted.

“Perak DAP always believe that the political alliance can bring change and new hope to the people through Pakatan’s manifesto, ” he said.

“We also believe that the people’s mandate is Pakatan’s mandate, not just any individuals. The Mentri Besar’s action that acts to the tune of the Opposition has failed to show the integrity of a Pakatan leader, ” he added.

Wong said Ahmad Faizal, who is also the state Pakatan chairman, should lead by example.

“I want to stress that the spirit of unity in Pakatan should be upheld at all times. I hope he would apologise to the Pakatan presidential council over the incident, ” he said.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Faizal had reportedly said that his remarks were taken out of context.

According to Free Malaysia Today, he said the video did not record his remarks in their entirety and added that the video gave an inaccurate scenario.

He was also quoted saying that he had gone through a lot in Perak, adding that there were DAP leaders who ran him down.

He said that his true friends in DAP would understand what he meant.
