Kit Siang: 'Uphill battle' for Pakatan to defend Tanjung Piai seat

PONTIAN: DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang (pic) says Pakatan Harapan faces an uphill battle to defend the Tanjung Piai parliamentary seat.

When asked about attendance at Pakatan ceramah, which is smaller than that at Barisan Nasional rallies, the Iskandar Puteri MP said it was a problem.

He said this after a 'kopitiam forum' which attracted a small crowd of villagers near Penerok on Wednesday (Nov 6) night.

Some 10km away, Barisan held a major ceramah with speakers including Umno president Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi, PAS president Datuk Seri Hadi Abdul Awang, MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, Barisan candidate Datuk Seri Dr Wee Jeck Seng and other Barisan leaders.

The Barisan Ceremah Perdana attracted larger crowds.

On fake news that could possibly influence voters, Lim said it depended on the media literacy of Tanjung Piai voters.

Lim also said that voters in Tanjung Piai would vote on behalf of all Malaysians whether they wished to continue with the Pakatan government's objective and mission to make Malaysia a top world-class nation.

The Tanjung Piai by-election will be a six-cornered fight between Pakatan's Karmaine Sardini, Barisan's Wee, Gerakan's Wendy Subramaniam, Pan Malaysian Islamic Front (Berjasa)'s Datuk Dr Badhrulhisham Abdul Aziz and independent candidates Dr Ang Chuan Lock and Faridah Aryani Abdul Ghaffar.

The by-election will be held on Nov 16 while early voting is on Nov 12.
