SEREMBAN: A suspect has been detained by police to assist in its probe over a tweet alleging that an Orang Asli had raped and murdered teenager Nora Anne Quoirin, whose body was found in a stream in Pantai Hills near here Tuesday (Aug 13).
State police chief DCP Datuk Mohamad Mat Yusop said the 29-year-old man was detained at the Seremban district police station when he came to have his statement recorded.
"We arrested him at around 7pm Thursday (Aug 15).
"The case will be handed over to the federal police in Bukit Aman to be further probed, " he said when contacted Friday (Aug 16).
He was asked to respond if the police had made any progress in its investigation on the matter.
A twitter user going by the handle @Zikri Armstrong also alleged that police would not be able to find the Orang Asli as most of them did not have identity cards.
There are two Orang Asli villages near the resort in Pantai Hills where 15-year-old Nora Anne was supposed to have spent her two-week holiday with her family.
On Thursday, the authorities ruled out foul play in the mysterious death of
Nora Anne whose remains were found in a stream 10 days after she disappeared from the resort.
Medical experts who conducted a nine-hour autopsy on her remains ruled that her death was due to upper gastrointestinal bleeding.
DCP Mohamad had said forensic experts also found that the teenager was not sexually assaulted or subjected to any form of violence.
The teenager disappeared from the resort she was living with her family on Aug 4.
She had checked into the property with her parents Sebastian Marie Philipe and
Meabh Jaseprine Quoirin and siblings Innes Julia and Maurice Arthure a day earlier.
However, she was not found in her room she shared with her siblings the following morning.
