Appeal or no, Najib has to pay RM1.96bil owed to IRB

KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak still has to pay his income tax for the assessment years 2011 to 2017 totalling RM1.69bil even if he has filed an appeal to the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) against the tax assessment.

IRB Monitoring Unit assistant director Hisyamuddin Mohd Hassan, 42, in his supporting affidavit, said according to Section 103 of the Income Tax Act 1967, all the assessed tax shall be due and payable on the day the notice of assessment is served.
