A MOTHER of two would sleep on a cardboard box with her children at a hospital lobby so that they could be near her husband who is battling stomach cancer, Utusan Malaysia reported.
Sarina Endut, 40, said she had to stop work as a school cleaner as she had to take care of her sick husband.
Without any income, she could not afford to rent a room.
As such, her two girls, aged six and eight, are with her at the Temerloh hospital where her husband had been admitted since July 24.
“The little money I have left is used to buy food. But I am grateful that some people have donated some things for us.
“The blanket that we have is also given to us after someone saw us sleeping without anything to keep ourselves warm,” she said.
She said she would seek help from the hospital’s security guard to keep an eye on her children at the lobby when she went to see her husband at the ward.
On a brighter note, she was thankful for the help from the Temerloh parliamentary office for providing her with a room since Monday after two weeks of sleeping at the hospital lobby.

“As soon as he reached there, they got into a fight,” said Supt Mohd Taufik.
