Indonesian labourer stabbed to death in Batu Gajah


BATU GAJAH (Bernama): A 24-year-old Indonesian man was found dead early on Friday (Aug 2) morning.

He is believed to have been stabbed with a sharp object in a fight in the kongsi of a construction site here.

Batu Gajah District Police Chief Asst Comm Ahmad Adnan Basri said the victim is a construction labourer from Madura, Indonesia and added that he is believed to have been murdered between 11pm on Thursday (Aug 1) and 1.30am on Friday at the Silverlake construction site in Jalan Bemban/Kampung Pisang here.

He said that about 50 Indonesian kongsi residents fled when police arrived at the location at about 1.30am and added that the police believe the fight was due to a misunderstanding between the workers.

"The police do not have any more information so far, and the victim is believed to have died due to a stab wound caused by a sharp object.

"The weapon has not been found, and the K9 unit has been called to the location. The police are conducting further inspections,” he said in a statement here on Friday.

ACP Ahmad Adnan said that the police are still investigating the cause and motive of the murder and urged anyone with information to contact the Batu Gajah District Police Headquarters. - Bernama
