Cops on the hunt for robber who threatened woman with knife in Penampang

PENAMPANG: Police are looking for a suspect who robbed a woman while she was resting in her car near the Kadazan Dusun Cultural Association (KDCA) here on Thursday (May 23) night.

District police chief Deputy Supt Haris Ibrahim said initial investigations revealed that the woman, in her 40s, was robbed by a stranger at about 11pm while she was in her vehicle parked at a bus stop near KDCA.

"The victim was shocked when the suspect opened the front passenger door of her car.

"The suspect entered the car and took the victim's handbag from her lap. When she tried to pull it back, he threatened to kill her.

"He ran away with the stolen bag," he added.

DSP Haris said police were on the hunt for the suspect and urged the public to share any information that might lead to his arrest.

The case is being investigated under Section 392 of the Penal Code for robbery.

A post on the incident, uploaded by Facebook user Eldy Ezra Ledy, has gone viral on social media.
