SIBU: A jobless man has been taken into custody on suspicion of assaulting his father using a water hose after he was told not to go out and disturb his neighbours.

Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said that at about 11am on Tuesday (May 21) the father, a 59-year-old odd job worker, told his son not to disturb the brick factory workers amongst whom they lived.

The family stays in the workers' quarters of a brick factory located on Jalan Sibu-Durin.

He said instead of heeding his father's advice, the 32-year-old suspect, who is married with two children, lost his temper.

"He took a water hose and hit his father on the back, chest, back of the left arm and ribs resulting in him sustaining injuries," he added.

ACP Stanley said the suspect, the eldest in the family of five children, had once tried to assault his mother.

The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapon.
