Cops nab 25-year-old suspect over event planner's murder

KUALA LUMPUR: A 25-year-old man has been detained in connection with the murder of an event planner 10 days ago.

Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Fadzil Ahmat said the suspect was picked up at the Sri Jaya Apartment in Ukay Perdana at about 1.30pm on Tuesday (May 21).

"He is definitely a person of interest in the case.

"He has been remanded until Tuesday (May 28)," he said when contacted.

On May 12, the 33-year-old event planner was found murdered at his apartment in Ukay Perdana.

The victim was lying in a pool of blood in his home when his friend discovered his body at 1.06am.

Ampang Jaya Deputy OCPD Supt Mohd Zaid Hassan had said police discovered stab wounds on the victim's chest and stomach.

"The K9 unit and pathologists from Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (HUKM) are also assisting in the case.

"We are in the midst of identifying potential suspects," he said, adding that investigations were ongoing.

He also urged anyone with information to contact the nearest police station as soon as possible.
