Actress Emily Kong dies in car crash

PETALING JAYA: Singer and actress Emily Kong was killed after her car crashed into a tree at Jalan Kuchai Lama in Kuala Lumpur.

The 29-year-old, who appeared in an episode of Sing! China 2018, is believed to have lost control of her vehicle which mounted the curb and crashed into the tree in front of the NSK hypermarket at around 3.20am yesterday.

A Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said they received a distress call at around 3.29am.

“A team from the Seputeh fire station was dispatched to the scene.

“We managed to pull the victim out of the vehicle before she was pronounced dead at the scene,” said the spokesman.

It is learnt that Kong suffered severe injuries to her head. Her body was sent to Hospital Kuala Lumpur for a post-mortem.

Kong’s family members, who arrived at the hospital, were too distraught to speak to the press.

Besides taking part in the Chinese reality talent show, Kong had acted in several movies including Love Endures, My Surprise Girl and Get Hard.

Her last post on her Instagram account, which had her writing about finding joy and being a gift to others, was filled with condolences from her friends and fans.

“You will always be our angel,” said Instagrammer yumiwong_official.

The wake is scheduled for 8.30pm today and tomorrow at the Full Gospel Assembly Church Kuchai Lama. The funeral service will be held at 10am on Tuesday at the same location.
