CAMERON HIGHLANDS: A war of words erupted between Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional supporters at the polling centre at SJK(C) Brinchang.
The incident at 11.30am occurred when DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang and some Pakatan supporters were crossing the road near the polling centre, when they apparently strayed into the 50m boundary outside the school.
Some supporters were wearing party T-shirts and carrying bamboo sticks with flags, which was a breach of election campaign rules.
A group of Barisan supporters nearby began heckling the group, shouting such lines as “50 metres!” and “Balik lah!”
Others, such as Umno supreme council member Datuk Armand Azha Abu Hanifah, shouted whether they knew election campaign laws and the 50m boundary.
“Are you government now or opposition? If you don’t know the law, go learn it first,” Armand told the group.
Some Barisan supporters began whipping out their phones to record the exchange.
A few blue-clad supporters also tried to snatch the flags away from the Pakatan supporters.
Asked about the incident, Lim, who wore a light pink button-down shirt and brown slacks, said he was “just walking around”.
Police arrived to move both groups away from the polling centre, which was visited by Election Commission chairman Azhar Azizan Harun 30 minutes earlier.
