KUALA LUMPUR: The sixth criminal breach of trust charge faced by Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and Tan Sri Dr Mohd Irwan Serigar Abdullah, involving a sum of RM2bil, is related to a land sale by the Finance Ministry, says the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
MACC deputy chief commissioner (operation) Datuk Seri Azam Baki said this to the media outside the Sessions Court at the end of proceedings.
Azam was in court when the charges were brought against Najib and Dr Mohd Irwan. He declined to reveal the land’s real value.
Asked if the other charges were related to the East Coast Rail Line, Multi-Product Pipeline and Trans-Sabah Gas Pipeline projects, Azam said: “It is too early for me to comment. Some of the charges are related. We have to wait for the trial.”
He said all six charges were about money from government coffers used for “other purposes” and that the CBT charge against former spy chief Datuk Hasanah Ab Hamid was related to abuse of government funds.
