KUALA NERUS: A keropok lekor maker in Terengganu is becoming creative, promoting his products with ingredients like cheese as filling for a better taste.

Mohd Pozi Hassan, 34, said his cheesy lekor was a hit, especially among children.

The adults, he said, preferred the traditional type.

“We have two types of keropok lekor with cheese,” Mohd Pozi said.

“One is with cheese as its filling, and the other is coated with cheese sauce.

“The cheesy lekor is tasty. It makes a good combination – the salty and creamy taste of the cheese with the sweet taste of the fish.

“Dip the sausage in our special cheese sauce for a unique taste,” he said at his shop in Tok Jembal here.

Mohd Pozi said he learned to make the keropok lekor from producers in Gong Badak and then improvised on it from time to time.

He said his keropok lekor was currently being marketed in Pahang, Penang and Selangor.

“The keropok lekor is specially packed in air-tight containers. It can last for five months if stored in a freezer,” he added.

Mohd Pozi said the business had provided him with a lucrative income. — Bernama
